Two faces

One face for the morning,
one for the evening.

The tower’s two long faces are labelled by the developer as north-east and south-west. The north-east face takes direct sun from about sunrise to noon; the south-west face from about noon to sunset, which brings the hot afternoon sun. Each has its merits; it depends on your household’s day.

Bearings estimated from the north arrow on the developer’s indicative plan (±10°).

M Mira’s two faces and the sun’s path (seen from above): in June the sun rises east-north-east, passes high in the northern sky and sets west-north-west; in December it rises east-south-east, passes high in the southern sky and sets west-south-west; at the March and September equinoxes it rises almost due east and sets almost due west. Calculated with NOAA’s solar-position formulas for about 3.2° N, 101.7° E. The centre is the zenith and the rim the horizon; shading by buildings and terrain is not included.

Which units are on which face?

The face names and unit stacks come from the developer’s key plan. Types A, B and C are on both faces; all five garden units are on Level 8, on the north-east face.

Month by month

Twelve months: when does the sun arrive, and when does it leave?

On the 21st of each month, from 6 a.m. to 7.30 p.m., in quarter-hour cells: a filled cell means direct sun on that face’s outer wall. Worked out from geometry, without shading from surrounding buildings; sunlight also varies from floor to floor.

How to choose

Each face has its merits.

North-east · the morning face

Direct sun from about sunrise to noon; the side where the main pool and the gardens are. Bright mornings; in the afternoon, the outer wall is out of direct sun.

South-west · the evening face

Direct sun from about noon to sunset, so afternoons are warmer: the afternoon heat. Bright evenings; how much air-conditioning and curtains are needed varies from home to home.

Kuala Lumpur sits at about 3° north, so the sun passes almost overhead: in June it rises east-north-east, in December east-south-east. Both faces get sun, only at different times of day. A household that leaves early and comes home late, someone who works from home, someone who feels the heat or loves the evening light: each will choose differently.
