MRT3 Circle Line · Proposed

A line still on paper.

The Circle Line would run a full loop around Kuala Lumpur, passing Danau Kota, Setapak and Rejang in the north-east. It has been approved, but work has not begun. Below, dated, is each step it has taken so far.

ProposedLatest step: land acquisition under way (reported July 2026)

Dashed line: the proposed route as recorded in open map data (OpenStreetMap, snapshot of 16 October 2026). Lit line: the Kelana Jaya Line in service. The final alignment will be as MRT Corp publishes it.

The short answer

The MRT Circle Line (MRT3) is a proposed loop line of about 51 km, with 10 interchange stations. The Minister of Transport approved its final railway scheme on 17 July 2025. Land acquisition is under way, with completion targeted for the end of 2026; MRT Corp says construction could start in 2027 at the earliest, and opening is reported to be planned for 2032. Through north-east Kuala Lumpur the interim station names run, in order: Kampung Puah (provisional), Jalan Langkawi, Danau Kota, Setapak, Rejang and Setiawangsa. For now, no station is named after Sri Rampai or Wangsa Maju.
